minimus:
"my question is not conspiracy based. He seems very pro Muslim, more than any other politician that I know of."
He's being, in his opinion, respectful. He doesn't judge Judaic values because of the Old Testament nor does he judge Christians because of their hellfire for everyone teaching. He's simply of the belief that all religions are nice and smell of roses except for the terrorists in question. Terrorists in any religion.

No. He sends his daughters to a Unitarian school - Unitarians are politically liberal - and he himself was involved in a church that got notoriety for it's African American stand. The minister was reported as saying "God damn America."
He's brought up on prior occasion the fact that the Bible instituted slavery so he's not the type of Christian who rationalizes those type of matters.

What if JWs Viewed Disfellowshipping and Excommunication as Radical Islamists Do?
by Oubliette ini found this statement from a recent article about isis to be quite interesting in view of the way that any jw can be accused of apostasy with little or no possible repercussions or consequences for the accuser: .
in islam, the practice of takfir, or excommunication, is theologically perilous.
if a man says to his brother, you are an infidel, the prophet said, then one of them is right.

"The WTS has said in print and in their congos' that in the nation of Israel DF'd people would be stoned to death ( or some other horrible death) but the law of the land prevents them from taking this action in our time."
I was told that in my judicial committee. Specifically, "If you were in Israel you would be stoned."

Ayn Rand - Opinions?
by cappytan infor those of you familiar with ayn rand and her ideas on morality, rationality and reason, what is your opinion of those ideas?.
i'm talking about her actual ideas, not the ideals that libertarianism has adopted and, in some cases, perverted.
do you think she's a charlatan?

Oubliette "For those that foolishly cling to JW false "theology" I offer this:"
I actually wrote this a while ago,
The Curse
You're going to grow old and die
Following the Watchtower lie
What will you say on that fateful day
after you've followed the Watchtower way?
No paradise just a life, that you never chose to live
A dedication to those who have nothing to give
You've finally grown old and soon will die
Following the Watchtower lie

How Many Disfellowshipped Are There In The US?
by Village Idiot ini've read in the watchtower, as well as observed personally, that 1% of the congregation gets disfellowshipped every year.
i'm not good at the math but i figure that it's 40% since 1975 (yes i know, they're growing).
i know that quite a few return but still, there must be a large percentage of disfellowshipped jws who will never return.

@ Giordano: "...so for one reason or another 50% or so have left"
Just what I'm thinking, "leavers" (fallen out of the truth) make up a substantial number equaling those still in. And I wonder how many undercover apostates are still in.

Interesting website OrphanCrow. But I think that those modern day splinter groups are too small to make an impact. The original hemorrhage, back in Rutherford's day was more dramatic. It's what led Rutherford to come up with a different name for those remaining under him. -

cappytan: "Personally, I wouldn't say evil but I would say misguided and naïve."
Not her.
As for teaching a person to fish that is fine if there are any fish available. In this outsourced economy even good jobs like tool die makers are no longer needed in the US (I know two in that predicament). We cannot compete with China.

OrphanCrow, "I have often thought that it is possible that there are far more ex-JWs than there are JWs."
That's what I'm beginning to think. I'm seeing signs of a hemorrhage in JWdom.
